REGIONAL MANAGER (ALBERTA NORTH)

KPIC Maintenance Services Inc. (a member of the FWS Group of Companies) specializing in industrial maintenance services, providing preventative and reactive solutions along with small project retrofits and expansions to our client’s facilities primarily in grain handling, feed mill and food processing.

To support our continued growth, we are seeking a Regional Manager for the Northern Alberta region, including Edmonton to join our collaborative and team-focused organization.

This position has a solid combination of Corporate and Field responsibilities with an overall responsibility for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the region, while identifying and implementing best practices.  As our Regional Manager for Alberta North, you will have the functional and technical expertise to manage service and maintenance related work in their appointed region, as well as small project-related work and retrofits to existing facilities; ensuring that all projects are completed on time, safely, on budget, and according to client and corporate guidelines and specifications.  Projects will generally be of short duration.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES:

  • Project Execution

    • Oversees the planning, direction and coordination of activities with maintenance service, small construction and retrofits of structures, facilities and systems.  Oversees scheduling, budgeting and implementation.
    • Conducts site visits, evaluates field personnel, and construction methods to effectively produce the final product. Provides recommendations in writing to the Senior Management/Executive team and weekly reports to the Director, Operations
    • Ensures consistency from site to site with regard to protocol and procedures, including lean construction techniques.
    • Ensures compliance with regulations regarding procedures, safety and overall strategy.
    • May be required to work in the field during growth periods and busy times of the year.

     

    Personnel Management

    • Supervises and manages field personnel including handling of hiring, dismissals and personnel issues.
    • Provides coaching and guidance to more junior Regional Managers
    • Ability to dispatch crews on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Position will require weekend dispatching of crews if required to support our customers.
    • Proven leadership ability with the skills to identify and develop the strengths of the individuals on the team; ability to lead change while achieving business goals and objectives.
    • Trains and mentors’ others in their roles; provides leadership and guidance to field personnel, including skill development and apprenticeship. Provides strong leadership and training for Lead Technicians in the field; holding them accountable for field execution.

     

    Relationship Management & Business Development

    • Fosters customer relationships and works collaboratively with all internal and external groups to effectively and efficiently meet clients’ needs.
    • Responsible for managing all contractors, following KPIC policies for third party contractors. 
    • Forward-thinking and a visionary with the ability to identify new, creative and innovative opportunities and challenges, and enhances growth and profitability.

 

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all business interactions and strives to meet customer needs in a creative and safe manner.
  • Strong mechanical and predictive/preventative maintenance knowledge
  • Must have a strong understanding and convey to field team of Industry Best Practices & Standards
  • Technical/Trade School Certificate/Diploma required.
  • 10-15 years of proven service & maintenance field experience, construction experience & has led multiple projects of $50,000 to $500,000 at one time.
  • 4-7 years progressive experience in a Regional Manager capacity.  
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills. Is hands-on, results-oriented, and self-disciplined with a structured approach. Able to manage own time with minimal supervision.
  • Proven leadership ability with the skills to identify and develop the strengths of the individuals on the team; ability to lead change while achieving business goals and objectives.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and can balance between corporate and field demands.
  • Experience in a relevant trade is required with at least one recognized journeyman’s certificate preferred in a structural/mechanical field.  Electrical knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Must have a strong background in estimating/quoting small projects and service maintenance work. 
  • Must have a strong understanding of safety and regulations in the industry, with proven experience in supporting and growing a strong safety culture. 
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with all levels; demonstrates a style that is one of a team player and collaborative.
  • Superior customer orientation with a clear ability to translate customer needs into short-term and long-range operating plans and business strategy.
  • Ability to achieve or exceed performance results through effective team and individual performance, setting clear goals and managing accountability.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to travel
