Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

Position Overview:

A summer research position is available for an undergraduate student to support a project focused on spectroscopy and AI-based analysis for grain storage and agri-food quality monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science and an interest in applied research, sensors, and data analysis. Preference will be given to students with experience in programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and a strong interest in literature review and scientific writing.

Duties:

  • Programming and image reconstruction using CTVox and CTAn.
  • Data analysis and AI model development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Senior (4th year) Applied Computer Science student.
  • Experience in programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and a strong interest in literature review and scientific writing.
  • Mostly computer-based desk work.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The period of work will be from June 22, 2026 - September 18, 2026 and the estimated total hours of work will be 20-325 hours.
