Description:
 
**Sessional Full-Time from Approximately August 20 - March 31 Annually**
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensures all Wesmen games and events are fully staffed and assigned tasks are completed effectively, contributing to a positive public image for the University and Athletics.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, takes a lead in hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and coordinating work assignments.
  • Develops and maintains active employee files for Wesmen Events Assistants and Senior Events Assistants.
  • Ensures all Wesmen Events Assistants and Senior Events Assistant have completed mandatory training.
  • Prepares payroll forms and employment paperwork for events personnel.
  • Tracks and reports event revenues for Athletics and represents Athletics in financial planning for future events along with Athletic facilities.
  • Provides support to the Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director, Media and Operations Coordinator for the organization, setup and operation of various events.
  • Works with Tech Support (both internal and external) when issues or concerns arise with respect to computerized equipment and systems within the Department.
  • Works with Security Services to address issues and concerns related to security in the athletic facilities.
  • Coordinates with various departments regarding cleaning, maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensures Point of Sales (POS) is up to date, adding new items, removing old items, editing and redesigning item listings, account codes.
  • Tracks sales and monitors online activity and generates reports as requested for specific sales.
  • Assists the Athletic Director and the Associate Director in the preparation of budgets and budget forecasts that may impact events and event planning related to Wesmen Athletics.
  • Provides the Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director with regular reports of revenues and expenditures associated with specific activities and events.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Four years of directly related experience, including at least one year of experience planning, facilitating and operating events, preferably in a University athletic environment
  • Experience dealing with the public is required
  • Experience supervising staff at events preferred
  • Experience with accounting is desired
  • Working knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems and MS Office software is required
  • Familiarity with a University work environment is preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities under minimal supervision
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make independent decisions

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.


Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends from September until mid-March as required for events.
