Description:

Amazing events don’t happen without amazing people!

The Events Manager is responsible for the overall conceptualization, development, and execution of United Way activities and events. The successful candidate will ensure that all events are effectively planned and executed, and that appropriate external and internal support resources are in place. Reporting to the Director, Brand Experience, the Events Manager will:

  • Lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of events that support United Way’s strategic priorities and goals
  • Work with the Director, Brand Experience to determine project needs and requirements
  • Play a lead role in the oversight, mentorship, and support of Events Coordinator
  • Provide leadership and support with respect to event planning for all areas of the organization
  • Create detailed proposals for all events, including timelines, venues, vendors, staffing, and budgets
  • Identify and secure speakers, special guests, and/or entertainment for each event
  • Ensure that all details relating to the event are successfully implemented
  • Apply a consistent event planning, implementation and evaluation framework that is focused on industry best practices and financial management and accountability
  • Provide excellent client service to our attendees and guests
  • Assist with brand experience initiatives and liaise with third-party events in support of United Way Winnipeg

 

Qualifications

 

You are a detail-oriented, hands-on event planner who is proactive, client service oriented and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. You are a team player, and you also possess the following attributes:

  • Relevant post-secondary degree/diploma and 2-4 years of experience managing events.  Experience in a fundraising environment would be an asset
  • Experience leading and managing outcomes/deliverables in a team environment, including budgets
  • Strong project management skills combined with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Experience with fundraising/event software would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships, with a focus on client service and donor/volunteer experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to learn and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, changing environment and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Work outside of regular working hours may be required, including extended hours on event days
