POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Engagement Manager works as part of a team providing a range of engagement opportunities that link Winnipeg workplaces to United Way agency partners and to a greater understanding of issues in the community. This role also provides leadership and coordination of United Way Winnipeg’s Speakers Bureau program. Together, the Community Engagement Team provides leadership and coordination of year-round initiatives such as Day of Caring, Collection Drives, Pop Up Day of Caring, Make the Month, Living on the Edge, Brain Architecture Game, and Natural Supports.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engagement Initiatives, this role:

  • Works collaboratively with the Community Engagement team to achieve the goals and objectives, including coordinating and customizing engagement opportunities for workplaces and other groups, virtually and in-person
  • Works collaboratively with workplaces, schools, volunteers and agency partners to ensure that all stakeholders have meaningful experiences that lead them to be confident and passionate ambassadors of United Way Winnipeg
  • Provides leadership and support to United Way Winnipeg’s Speakers Bureau, including recruitment, training, program development, team support and volunteer management.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

You possess energy and enthusiasm, the ability to think broadly and address details, strong communication and writing skills, and a commitment to strengthening our city. Your education, experience, and skills include:

  • Minimum of two years of experience leading a program and/or volunteers and/or events in a non-profit setting
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, with preferred specialization in human services/community development is an asset
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Strong time management skills and proven ability to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to take initiative and demonstrate imagination and resourcefulness
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to work closely with other staff and volunteers;
  • Experience in facilitating or providing training is an asset
  • Experience in program evaluation is an asset
  • Must possess a valid Drivers’ License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs
