This position is a 5-month term (August - December).
Reporting to the Director, Quality Assurance (Grain), the Laboratory Technician provides support to the organization by way of the assessment of grain quality intrinsic specifications and providing timely quality data to business units responsible for the procurement and sale of food commodities.
The incumbent conducts a variety of laboratory tests designed to measure and assess the intrinsic quality of grain; provides operating and merchandising team members with quality specifications data; develops and facilitates training programs; and actively participates in progressive Quality Assurance objectives and process improvement initiatives.
Qualified candidates will possess 2 or more years experience working in a quality assurance and/or a laboratory capacity.
Candidates will also possess MS Office computer skills, experience in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and grain quality assessment practices, strong time management and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Experience in grain procurement, conditioning and shipping processes is considered an asset.
