Position Summary


Provides customer service and develops long-term customer relationships to ensure profitable sale of parts.





  1. Sells parts to customers and builds customer relationships over the phone and/or in person by correctly identifying parts needed, taking orders, setting prices, creating invoices, billing out freight, and collecting payment. Maintains record of lost sales.  May make suggestions on items and advise customers on product applications.  May help to fill sales representatives’ orders and identify potential customers. (70 %)


  1. Stocks shelves and reports to management on stock levels.  Maintains counter and store area and may assist in putting up displays. Also assists with inventory control (i.e. cycle counts, core inventory) plus participates in annual parts inventories, clean-up and preparation work. (15 %)


  1. Sources parts for select customers by phoning suppliers and competition.  Seeks technical information regarding new products.  May assist Purchasing department with purchasing and inventory problems and re-order merchandise within established limits. (5%)


  1. Accepts returned goods for credit, administers claims to manufacturers as required and answers customer inquiries (i.e. on warranty returns).  (5 %)


  1. Develops price quotes, stores catalogue and price sheets. (5 %)


  1. Other duties as assigned





Education & Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years in parts counter sales or front line customer service
  • Knowledge of truck and trailer parts or similar industry (i.e. agriculture)
  • Prior parts purchasing an asset



  • Customer service focus & ability to build relationships over the phone/in person
  • Strong numbers-orientation and attention to detail
  • Exposure to Karmak or computerized business systems preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge with ability to learn in-house systems
  • Shows a learner attitude, accuracy, and diligence
  • Mechanical aptitude with automotive or HD trucks an asset



  • 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Option Tuesday-Saturday 8am-5pm, Monday off
