Position Summary

Prepares and paints heavy-duty truck, trailers and other commercial vehicles or parts to ensure customer satisfaction and profitable sales for the company.




1)      Disassembles trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles or collects parts needing painting from Body Repair Technicians; sands damaged parts; masks and prepares to ensure paint coverage only in appropriate areas. (40%)

·         Proper materials are used in preparation to achieve quality results (eg. Appropriate grade of sandpaper)

·         Only parts which need paint repair are painted

·         Inspection of Prep Techs’ work to ensure no dust or other particles left on surface to be painted


2)      Applies different types of paint depending on material and environmental conditions; mixes, matches, and applies paint (20%)

·         Paint matches, no overspay occurs, no runs, dirt or bubbles exist in the paint (no redo’s)

·         Painting deadlines are met


3)      Re-assembles and inspects completed paint job for imperfections (e.g. Scratches from re-assembly), and completes minor cleaning on jobs (20%)

·         Visual appeal of completed job

·         Touch ups done as required


4)      Ensures a clean and maintained work environment

·         Promotes a safe work environment

·         Maintains Company tools/equipment

·         Ensures area is neat, swept, no open cans or tools are left lying around


5)      Other duties as assigned





Education & Experience:

  • Journeyman level preferred
  • At least 5 years painting and prepping, to ensure effective independent decision-making
  • Understand paint application procedures
  • Knowledge of surface preparation procedures
  • Committed to ongoing training



  • Proficient with a variety of tools and equipment, some of which are technologically advanced
  • Ability to work with chemicals
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Basic math (for ratio mixing) and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and artistic abilities
  • Able to do a considerable amount of standing, crawling, lifting, climbing, pulling and reaching



  • Own spray equipment is required
  • Shift Work, rotating every 5 weeks:
    • Day shift. Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
    • Evening shift: Monday to Thursday, 2:00 PM to midnight, and Friday, 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM (piece work)


  • Own transportation to/from work is required as no bus service available on evening shift
