The Group:

SED’s Hardware Engineering group has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Engineer / Designer with experience in FPGA design, DSP algorithm development and implementation, printed circuit board design, and other embedded programming.

  • System requirements analysis
  • Verification testing  
  • Manufacturing support and systems integration and test


This position will be of interest to candidates with:

  • A minimum of five to ten years of work experience
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or a Technologist diploma with equivalent work experience

Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

  • Analysis tools such as Matlab
  • Signal Processing in FPGAs or software
  • Xilinx FPGAs and their associated tool chains
  • Sophisticated modulation systems such as QAM, PSK and OFDM
  • Forward error correcting systems (turbo codes, LDPC, concatenated codes...ITU J83 Annex B, Reed Solomon codes)
  • Common Industry Specifications: DOCSIS DRFI, TR 101 290, DVB-C
  • MPEG transport stream processing
  • Familiarity with the GNU tool chain and Linux
  • ARM processors
  • RF Design

The ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
