Audit & Risk Management
Positions in the auditing division conduct audits in compliance with established policies and procedures for branch operations and corporate operating departments as well as compliance audits for key regulatory and legislative policies. Within the risk management division, positions are responsible for risk management policies as well as working with all divisions of the credit union to develop and maintain appropriate corporate disaster recovery/business continuity plans.
Examples of positions found within auditing:
Director, Internal Audit
• Accountable for the development and execution of a risk-based, systematic approach to evaluate and improve the operational effectiveness of the credit union and report on compliance within established policies, procedures and applicable legislation. This position carries out independent appraisals of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the credit union’s financial, physical and information resources are managed.
• Accountable for performing internal audits in accordance with the Annual Audit Plan or as directed by the Director, Internal Audit.
An example of positions found within risk management:
Manager, Corporate Risk
• Oversees the corporate disaster recovery/business continuity plans and acts as the credit union’s liaison with Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (CUDGC), the Winnipeg Police Services, and the Royal Canadian Mountain Police. A key role of this position includes acting as the Credit Union’s Deputy Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer.
