Description:

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, support PTI’s continued compliance to the QMS in accordance with ISO/TS16949 and Customer Specific requirements. Also responsible for ensuring Supplier compliance PTI’s Global Supplier Quality Manual. In all aspects of the job, functions in an accurate and efficient manner in order to promote Phillips & Temro Industries’ public image.

RESPONSIBIITIES AND DUTIES:

Works in accordance with ISO/TS16949 and PTI requirements to ensure Supplier compliance to PTI’s Global Supplier Quality Manual through Supplier Audits.

               o Supplier audit scheduling.

               o Supplier system and process auditing.

               o Initiate supplier corrective action requests when the product or process does not conform to stated requirements.

               o Initiate opportunities for improvement to ensure continuous improvement to supplier systems and processes.

               o Validate the effectiveness of corrective actions.

               o Maintain quality records that support this activity.

               o Report compliance to management

Support Product Engineering and Purchasing by working with suppliers through New Product Introductions, part changes, cost reduction efforts, etc. This includes, but is not limited to:

               o New supplier qualification process

               o Design and qualification process

               o Supplier PPAP process

Initiate supplier corrective action requests as necessary and validate closure of appropriate corrective/preventive actions.

Take ownership of the Certified Supplier List

Responsible for assessing and leading the implementation effort of supplier cost reduction initiatives.

Monitor supplier performance trends for continuous improvement activities to reduce supplier related cost of poor quality.

Continuously improve suppliers’ quality systems and implement programs to support suppliers’ goal of reaching “self-certification” thus reducing/eliminating incoming inspection.

Support product launches utilizing the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process with emphasis on managing supplier activities and timing, in addition to maintaining the required documentation.

Support engineering in development of material specifications and identification of critical/significant characteristics as related to supplier product.

Provide supplier training and assistance in the development of Production Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and other APQP and PTI supplier quality system requirements.

Manage Supplier Deviation Requests and Supplier Request for Engineering Approval activities.

Provide recommendations for incoming inspection requirements and defective material disposition as needed.

Manage and maintain Supplier Corrective Action (SCAR) process by working with suppliers to resolve defective material issues, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.

Develop, maintain, and issue Supplier Performance Scorecards.

Responsible for updating and tracking hard tooling assets at the suppliers location.

COMPETENCIES:

  • In depth knowledge of ISO9001 and TS16949 quality systems and Quality Auditing
  • Knowledge of AIAG APQP / PPAP process.
  • Knowledge of root cause/corrective action methodologies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve disputes.

Ability to use PC and widely used software packages, e.g., spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (Word), Outlook.

Ability to meet deadlines; accomplish work in order of priority; professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions.

Ability to learn new duties and adjust to new situations encountered on the job within a reasonable amount of time.

Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of an organization (both inside and outside the company.

WORKING CONDITIONS: PTI Office, External Supplier office and factory environment. Some travel will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Education: Four year degree or 10 plus years of experience in similar job functions.

Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years in a quality, supplier quality or internal audit within manufacturing environment. Good interpersonal, written, and oral skills. Proven problem-solving skills.

DESIRED:

Education: Four year degree plus completion of Lead Auditor Training.

Experience: Same as above.
