Field Quality & Estimating Coordinator

 

Responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet the required standards of quality, as well as managing the review of construction drawings and estimates. This role involves developing and implementing quality control procedures, reviewing project drawings for accuracy and compliance, and overseeing the estimating process to ensure that project budgets are accurate and comprehensive.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Quality Control

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure that all construction activities meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct site reviews of buildings during construction to ensure compliance with quality standards and building codes.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to ensure that workmanship and materials meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify and document any non-conforming work across all disciplines and collaborate with the construction team and third-party contractors to develop and implement corrective actions. Reporting non-conformance to the Site Superintendent.
  • Assist in identifying solutions to ensure projects meet acceptable standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
  • Acting as the liaison between the Board of Directors and Ventures for design changes.
  • Assist in compiling and preparing the operations and maintenance manuals for turnover to properties.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of wood frame construction projects and technical proficiency with quality manager processes and tools.
  • Record Property Finishes of each building for maintenance (serial #s, paint colors, flooring, blind sizes, etc.)
  • Offer guidance and advice on technical construction matters to the senior construction management team.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with peers, trades, project consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide quality updates and insights.

 

Drawing Reviews

  • Review construction drawings and plans to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications and building codes.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during the drawing review process.
  • Provide feedback to the design team on potential improvements or areas of concern within the drawings.
  • Ensure that any revisions to the drawings are accurately reflected in the construction process.
  • Standardizing and documenting (lighting layouts, shelving, accessories detail, cabinets, etc.)

 

Estimating

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and overhead.
  • Review and validate estimates prepared by the estimating team to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to develop budgets and forecasts based on estimates.
  • Monitor and analyze project costs throughout the construction process to ensure alignment with the budget and identify any potential cost overruns.
  • Provide input on value engineering options to optimize project costs without compromising quality.

 

Warranty Work

  • 3-month warranty (schedule contractors for any repairs).
  • Record work orders for warranty work.

 

Education:

 

  • Certification in quality control or a related field (e.g., Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)) is a plus.

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum of five years of experience in construction quality control, estimating, and drawing reviews.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and estimating tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

 

Environment/Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to work in a construction environment, including exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • On-site presence required throughout the duration of the project.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
