The Opportunity 

We are seeking four (4) Park Event Assistant(s) in a term position starting in May until the end of the year. 

Reporting to the Manager, Community & Special Events, the Park Event Assistant is part of the team responsible for the successful implementation of all community & special events at APC. Events take place in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations, such as the Conservatory, Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, Formal Gardens, Event tent (s), the Duck Pond, Zoo, Qualico Family Centre and the Lyric Theatre, etc.  Park Event Assistants will be required to understand the Park policies and have knowledge of all facilities to provide accurate information, pricing information to a certain degree and direct inquiries to the appropriate person(s). From time to time, they may be asked to provide administrative support.

Shifts will vary depending on scheduled events, candidates can expect to  work Wednesday to Sunday, days and evenings, including holidays. This position requires working indoors and outdoors depending on the venue. The hourly rate is $14.00.


  • A high school diploma/GED and/or currently enrolled in University or College.
  • A Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Candidates must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position. Must be capable of lifting, moving, and setting up chairs, tables and canopies/10X10 tent and the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Must be able to manage environmental working conditions as the individual will be working outside in both inclement and cold weather.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft applications.
  • Skill with managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and high volumes of diverse work while attending to details.
  • A professional and positive demeanor with the ability to work effectively as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • An ability to effectively manage confidential information.
  • The ability to speak French and/or other languages is an asset.
