SED operates out of a custom-built facility in a beautiful research and development park adjacent to the University of Saskatchewan.

The Group:

SEDs Purchasing group has a requirement for a Buyer.

The Position:

This position requires an individual that is self-motivated and adaptable, able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision, organize a diverse workload, make suggestions and decisions within the scope of responsibility, and able to read and understand technical documents, drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and analyze offers, prepare bid comparisons, and process orders;
  • Coordinate costing efforts to support proposal activity;
  • Responsible for supplier selection, qualifications, and auditing;
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers; and,
  • Purchasing various commodities, services and equipment and ensuring on-time delivery.

Qualifications:

This position will be of interest to candidates with:

  • A Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation (formerly CPP) or a Diploma in Supply Management from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC);
  • 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in a purchasing environment, with preference given to experience in the electronics industry, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience;
  • Proven ability to establish strategic sourcing and supplier relationships;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, and Visio software; and,
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
